Safety and efficacy of multipotent adult progenitor cells in acute respiratory distress syndrome (MUST-ARDS): a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 1/2 trial

G. Bellingan et al.

Summary: Bone marrow-derived, allogeneic, multipotent adult progenitor cells showed safety and tolerability in patients with ARDS, improving clinical outcomes and quality of life. Larger trials are needed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and optimal patient population based on the promising results from this trial.

Effects of different concentrations of mesenchymal stem cells treatment on LPS-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome rat model

Guangyang Liu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that hUC-MSC injection significantly improved the outcomes in the rat model of LPS-induced ARDS, including reducing mortality, improving lung function, increasing oxygenation, enhancing heart function, and decreasing inflammatory factors levels. Moreover, the high dose MSC group showed better therapeutic effects on lung injury compared to the low dose MSC group.
