Pretreatment with selenium and zinc modulates physiological indices and antioxidant machinery to improve drought tolerance in maize (Zea mays L.)

Fahim Nawaz et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that combined Se and Zn seed treatment can enhance germination indices and upregulate enzymatic antioxidants in maize seedlings. Additionally, the primed Se and Zn efficiently translocate to shoots, resulting in higher Se and Zn content, highlighting the potential of improving drought tolerance and biofortification benefits in maize.

Multivariate analysis of mutant wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines under drought stress

Sadaf Zahra et al.

Summary: The study developed 24 mutant wheat lines and identified several mutants with improved performance through quantitative traits evaluation and biochemical parameter analysis. Principal component analysis and cluster analysis revealed significant variations among mutant lines, and the selected five drought-tolerant mutants showed increased accumulation of proline, soluble sugars, and free amino acids, with decreased chlorophyll and soluble protein content.
