Summary: This study focused on the decolorization and detoxification of AY-11 dye using ozone and UV-assisted ozonation, with optimization of key parameters. The results showed over 99% decolorization within the first 20 minutes with 100 µg/mL AY-11 dye and pH 9. The use of ozone alone was slightly more efficient in terms of chemical oxygen demand and color removal compared to ozone/UV treatment.

In-situ HDO of guaiacol over nitrogen-doped activated carbon supported nickel nanoparticles

Wei Jin et al.

Summary: This paper presents in-situ hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol over Ni-based nitrogen-doped activated carbon supported catalysts as an economically viable route for bio-resources upgrading. Water is used as hydrogen donor for the HDO reaction, suppressing external high-pressure hydrogen input. Nitrogen-doped samples show higher activity in the H2-free HDO process due to their acid-base properties, modified electronic properties, and enhanced dispersion of Ni particles on the catalysts' surface.
