Reconstruction of ancient volcanic complexes using magnetic signature: A case study from Cambrian andesite lava flow, Bohemian Massif

K. Kolarova et al.

Summary: The Upper Cambrian Krˇivokl'at-Rokycany Volcanic Complex was reconstructed using anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS). The study identified the feeding area of the volcanic complex, as well as the presence of andesite and rhyodacite feeders. The analysis also suggested that magnetic susceptibility increases with distance from the feeder and towards the upper part of the lava flow.

Avalonia, get bent! - Paleomagnetism from SW Iberia confirms the Greater Cantabrian Orocline

Bruno Daniel Leite Mendes et al.

Summary: This study investigates the uncertainties regarding the formation mechanisms of the Cantabrian Orocline and Central Iberian curve during the Paleozoic era. Through paleomagnetic research on late Carboniferous-early Permian vertical-axis rotations in SW Iberia, it was found that the Greater Cantabrian Orocline hypothesis is supported, indicating a significant change in stress field during the late Carboniferous.

Tectonic significance of the Variscan suture between Brunovistulia and the Bohemian Massif

Stephen Collett et al.

Summary: The study of the Velke Vrbno Dome eclogite provides evidence for the emplacement of eclogite protoliths in a transitional supra-subduction to continental-rift setting. Additionally, the discovery of a fragment of Palaeoproterozoic basement in the region suggests an earlier geological history.

HOW MANY EXTENSIONAL STAGES MARKED THE VARISCAN GRAVITATIONAL COLLAPSE IN THE BOHEMIAN MASSIF?

Ondrej Barta et al.

Summary: The tectonic development of the Variscan belt in Central Europe involved both compression and extensional phases related to gravitational collapse, resulting in the formation of sedimentary basins and magmatic bodies. The Benesov pluton, for example, exhibited primary magmatic fabrics and deformational fabrics indicating extensional stages. The study revealed a three-stage extensional history during the gravitational collapse, highlighting the complex succession of individual extensional stages rather than a simple process.
