Deactivation kinetics of γ-Al2O3 catalyst in methanol dehydration to dimethyl ether

Saeed Sahebdelfar et al.

Summary: The kinetics of deactivation of gamma-alumina catalyst in the dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether were investigated, revealing a second-order independent deactivation kinetics that accurately fit the experimental data. The activation energies for the main reaction and catalyst deactivation were obtained, with the latter showing a negative value due to reversible partial hydration. At higher temperatures, irreversible sintering of alumina crystallites became the predominant deactivation mechanism.

Green Semisynthetic Cascade to Ligstroside, Ligstroside Aglycone, and Oleocanthal

Stefano Mancuso et al.

Summary: This study proposed a green chemocatalytic method to obtain ligstroside, ligstroside aglycone, and oleocanthal from oleuropein. The sustainability of the method was assessed by analyzing synthesis trees and green credentials of each step using the CHEM21 toolkit. This approach allows for considerations on the large-scale feasibility of the process.

Semi-synthesis as a tool for broadening the health applications of bioactive olive secoiridoids: a critical review

Manuela Oliverio et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the semi-synthetic protocols developed in the last fifteen years for producing natural olive bioactive phenols that are rarely available by extractive procedures, as well as new biophenol derivatives with enhanced biological activity. Additionally, the semi-synthetic protocols for producing olive bioactive phenol derivatives as analytical standards are discussed. The advantages of semi-synthesis compared to classical extraction methods or total synthesis protocols are critically analyzed in this review.
