Comparison of Predictability in Central Corneal Thickness Reduction After SMILE and FS-LASIK for High Myopia Correction

Corneal stromal thickness changes after myopic laser cornea refractive surgery

Summary: This study evaluated the postoperative behavior of central corneal stomal thickness after myopic femto-laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE). It compared the accuracy of two laser machines in predicting the real stromal change. The results showed that after LASIK, there was mild stromal rethickening up to the third month, while after SMILE, the corneal stomal thickness remained stable. The Amaris 750 excimer laser had better accuracy in predicting stromal consumption after LASIK compared to the VisuMax FS laser for SMILE.
