Efficacy of Patellar Taping and Electromyographic Biofeedback Training at Various Knee Angles on Quadriceps Strength and Functional Performance in Young Adult Male Athletes with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Shahnaz Hasan et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of patellar taping and electromyographic biofeedback (EMG-BF)-guided isometric quadriceps strengthening at different knee angles in people with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). The findings indicated that individuals who trained their quadriceps at a 60 degrees knee angle had significantly stronger quadriceps muscles than individuals who trained at 30 degrees or 90 degrees of knee flexion.

Effect of plyometric training and neuromuscular electrical stimulation assisted strength training on muscular, sprint, and functional performances in collegiate male football players

Shahnaz Hasan et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the impact of an 8-week NMES program combined with plyometric and strength training on muscular, sprint, and functional performances in collegiate male football players. It found significant improvements in muscular strength, sprint ability, and functional performance for both groups, with the NMES group showing advantages in muscular and sprint performance.

Hamstring Muscle Volume as an Indicator of Sprint Performance

Sergi Nuell et al.

Summary: This study compared mechanical properties and performance during sprinting as well as thigh muscle volumes between national-level sprinters and physically active males. Sprinters were significantly faster with higher theoretical maximum velocity and power, and had larger quadriceps, adductors, and hamstrings muscle volumes compared to active males. Hamstrings muscle volume strongly correlated with sprint time, velocity, and power, indicating its importance in sprint performance.

In-Season Assessment of Sprint Speed and Sprint Momentum in Rugby Players According to the Age Category and Playing Position

Santiago Zabaloy et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the interval at which male rugby union players reach maximum speed in a 50 m sprint according to age categories and playing positions. Results showed that most U14 and U16 players reached maximum speed between 20-30 m, with lower sprint speed than U18 players and Seniors. The optimal distance for assessing sprint speed of rugby players was found to be 30 m, with differences in sprint times and sprint momentum between different age categories and playing positions.
