Prognostic value of 18F-FDG PET/CT parameters and histopathologic variables in head and neck cancer

Hale Aslan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the prognostic value of F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography parameters in head and neck cancer patients, and found that these parameters were not associated with disease-free survival and overall survival.

A convolutional neural network for fully automated blood SUV determination to facilitate SUR computation in oncological FDG-PET

Pavel Nikulin et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a fully automated method for determining arterial blood SUV in whole-body PET/CT scans using a convolutional neural network. The results showed that the automated BSUV determination closely matched manual delineation, indicating good concordance between the two methods.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Prognostic Value of Pretherapeutic Primary Tumor MTV from [18F]FDG PET in Radically Treated Cervical Cancer Patients

Paulina Cegla et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of pretherapeutic primary tumor metabolic tumor volume (MTV) in predicting the prognosis of radically treated cervical cancer patients. The results showed that pretreatment MTV of the primary tumor was the sole independent prognostic factor for overall survival (OS), event-free survival (EFS), locoregional control (LRC), and freedom from distant metastases (FFDM) in these patients.

The Role of the Metabolic Parameters of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Patients With Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer

Dunhuang Wang et al.

Summary: The pre-treatment cervical and LN metabolic parameters were found to be associated with survival outcomes in patients with LACC. Pre-treatment cervical TLG and LN SUVmax may be important prognostic biomarkers for OS, DFS, and DMFS, indicating the potential for predictive value in survival outcomes. Further prospective studies with a larger sample size are necessary to validate the significance of these metabolic parameters in predicting survival outcomes.
