A new species, Philodendron josephii sp. nov., found in the terra firme tropical humid forest in Amazonas state, Brazil, is described. This species is similar to two other Amazonian species, P. maximum and P. megalophyllum, in leaf morphology, but differs in characteristics of the prophyll, petiole, flagelliform branches, and ovary. The description includes illustrations, as well as notes on habitat, geographic distribution, and conservation status.
