Summary: This study evaluated the quality of meals and snacks served in licensed childcare centers in Connecticut in 2019 and found that centers participating in CACFP complied better with minimum nutrition standards and best practices, resulting in higher nutritional quality of meals and snacks offered. Compliance with nutrition standards would benefit snack quality the most. Providers outside of CACFP need additional supports to improve the food environment for young children.
