The Altmetric Attention Score Is Associated With Citation Rates and May Reflect Academic Impact in the Total Joint Arthroplasty Literature

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between social media attention and citation counts for articles on total joint arthroplasty and identified predictors of social media attention. The results showed that articles with higher social media attention tend to have higher citation counts. Furthermore, citation counts and the number of study references were positively associated with greater social media attention.
