Smartphone monitoring of in-ambulance vibration and noise

Summary: Transferring sick premature infants between hospitals can increase the risk of severe brain injury due to exposure to excessive noise, vibration, and accelerations during transport. To reduce these risks, a study developed an app for Android smartphones to record data on these factors during ambulance journeys. The results showed that smartphones can accurately collect data for routing ambulances along more comfortable roads to minimize potential harmful exposure to vibration and noise.

Identifying research priorities in newborn medicine: a Delphi study of parents' views
