Jan Nisar et al.

Summary: In this study, plain and zinc oxide-loaded almond shells were pyrolyzed and the produced bio-oil was characterized. The composition of bio-oil differed between catalytic and non-catalytic pyrolysis. The kinetics of pyrolysis reaction were studied using thermogravimetric analysis, revealing four weight loss steps. Co-pyrolysis of light bio-oil leached bamboo and heavy bio-oil: Effects of mass ratio, pyrolysis temperature, and residence time on the biochar

Dengyu Chen et al.

Summary: A new method for preparing biochar through co-pyrolysis of heavy fraction of bio-oil (HB) and leached bamboo (LB-bamboo) was proposed in this study. The co-processing of HB and bamboo synergistically improved the yield and higher heating value (HHV) of biochar. The removal of ash and metallic species in bamboo by LB leaching pretreatment led to a more synergistic effect observed during the subsequent co-pyrolysis.

Optimization process of porous carbon derived from coconut shell: A novel preparation condition and investigation on pore surface roughness

Liangcai Wang et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to investigate the textural properties of porous carbon prepared under air conditions and establish the relationship between pore surface roughness and textural properties. The results showed that porous carbon obtained under air conditions exhibited a higher specific surface area compared to other conditions. The study also found that the pore structure of porous carbon underwent different stages with increasing final temperature or holding time. Furthermore, the correlation coefficients between pore surface roughness and mesopore volume, mesopore surface area, and macropore volume were determined.

Co-pyrolysis of pine sawdust with nickel formate for understanding interaction mechanisms and enhancing resistance toward biochar deposition

Liangcai Wang et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to understand better the interaction mechanisms between pine sawdust and nickel formate by investigating their thermal behavior and calculating activation energy and other parameters. The results showed that the presence of nickel formate facilitated the decomposition of pine sawdust at high temperatures, and the temperature at which positive synergy occurred decreased when the content ratio of the two materials was below 1. Additionally, nickel formate enhanced the resistance to biochar deposition.
