Improvement in Bending Strength of Silicon Nitride through Laser Peening

Kazuya Saigusa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the bending strength and reliability of ceramics using laser peening. LP without coating (LPwC) and with coating (LPC) were applied to silicon nitride (Si3N4) under various conditions. The results showed that the LPwC specimen had a greater surface roughness but introduced larger and deeper compressive residual stress, resulting in higher bending strength and less scatter compared with the non-LP and LPC specimens.

Microstructure and thermal conductivity of gas-pressure-sintered Si3N4 ceramic: the effects of Y2O3 additive content

Yinsheng Li et al.

Summary: The Y2O3 content in Si3N4 ceramics affects the microstructure and thermal conductivity, with higher Y2O3 content leading to changes in liquid phase behavior and grain size distribution. The microstructure significantly influences the thermal conductivity of the ceramics.

Effect of Content and Size of Reinforcements on the Grain Evolution of Graphene-Reinforced Aluminum Matrix Composites

Qi Wu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of graphene content and size on the grain evolution during heat treatment of GRAMCs, finding that both factors affect grain growth and morphology. Increasing graphene content and decreasing size can enhance the pinning effect on grain size, while agglomeration and self-contacting phenomena may occur at high contents and sizes.
