Three-Dimensional Dendritic Au-Ag Substrate for On-Site SERS Detection of Trace Molecules in Liquid Phase

Yunpeng Shao et al.

Summary: In this study, a facile surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor was developed for on-site detection of trace molecules in liquid phase. A three-dimensional (3D) dendritic Au-Ag nanostructure was constructed in a capillary tube to maximize the spatial electric field and achieve high signal intensification. The unique structure of the capillary enabled on-site detection of trace molecules in liquids.

Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles decorated silicon nanowires with fixed and dynamic hot spots for ultrasensitive 3D SERS sensing

Wenlong Liao et al.

Summary: The article reports a facile method to fabricate Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles decorated silicon nanowires as 3D SERS substrates, and investigates the effects of Au-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles size and composition ratios on SERS performance through experiments and theoretical simulations. The prepared 3D SERS substrate shows higher SERS enhancement factor and oxidation resistance ability, making it potentially suitable for ultrasensitive detection of trace analytes.

Au@Ag Dendritic Nanoforests for Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Sensing

Hung Ji Huang et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of Au cores in Ag shells on enhancing surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) with samples of different Au/Ag ratios. The synthesized Au@Ag-DNFs/Si samples showed that the Au core played a role in focusing the illumination light and enhancing the SERS response of the Ag coverage.

Improved Surface-Enhanced-Raman Scattering Sensitivity Using Si Nanowires/Silver Nanostructures by a Single Step Metal-Assisted Chemical Etching

Ioannis Kochylas et al.

Summary: In this study, highly sensitive substrates for Surface-Enhanced-Raman-Scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were developed by decorating silicon nanowires (SiNWs) with silver nanostructures using single-step Metal Assisted Chemical Etching (MACE). The substrates showed considerably lower limit of detection (LOD) and better uniformity in SERS activity when decorated with silver aggregates compared to dendritic structures. Enhancement factors ranging from 10^5 to 10^10 were calculated, demonstrating very high SERS sensitivities for analytical applications.

Silver nanoparticle aggregates: Wavelength dependence of their SERS properties in the first transparency window of biological tissues

Roberto Pilot et al.

Summary: Silver nanoparticle aggregates exhibit SERS enhancement properties in the transparency window of biological tissues, but the SERS signal weakens with increasing wavelength. Therefore, when designing a SERS experiment, it is important to consider both the enhancement of the substrate and the normalized SERS signal for optimal results.
