Anushka Upamali Rajapaksha et al.

Summary: This systematic review discusses the performance and applicability of several adsorptive materials for the removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from water, as well as the mechanisms involved. Statistical analysis is used to compare the effectiveness of different adsorbents and the effects of sorbent properties and experimental conditions. The factors involved in fixed-bed column studies are also analyzed. The study also examines the regeneration of spent adsorbent and its reuse. Nanoparticles and mineral-doped biochar are found to be the most effective sorbents.

Insights into Effective Adsorption of Lead ions from Aqueous Solutions by Using Chitosan-Bentonite Composite Beads

Zeynep Mine Senol et al.

Summary: The chitosan-bentonite composite was synthesized and studied for its adsorption properties on lead ions. The study found that adsorption increased with increasing pH under acidic conditions and the surface of the adsorbent was positively charged at pH 5.95. The Langmuir isotherm model was suitable for the adsorption isotherm, with an adsorption capacity of 0.425 mol kg(-1). The adsorption kinetics followed the PSO and IPD models. Thermodynamic analysis showed that the adsorption process was endothermic, with increasing entropy and spontaneous. The study also investigated the reuse conditions of the adsorbent and found that 84% of the adsorbed ions could be recovered in 0.1 M HCl.
