Fabrication of pH-sensitive chitosan/layered double hydroxide (LDH)/Fe3O4 nanocomposite hydrogel beads for controlled release of diclofenac

S. Barkhordari et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite hydrogels based on chitosan, magnetic nanoparticles, and Mg-Al double-layered hydroxides were prepared for pH-sensitive drug delivery systems. The drug release and swelling behavior were influenced by pH and external magnetic field, with Fe3O4 NPs content affecting the rate of diclofenac release. By increasing Fe3O4 NPs content, the drug release became more targeted and release percentages varied under different pH values and EMF conditions.
