Hazel P. R. Corado et al.

Summary: This study compared the bending strength of chairside lithium disilicate glass-ceramics with different zirconia content, finding that samples with higher zirconia percentage were more likely to fail and exceeding 10% zirconia addition reduced flexural strength. Heat treatment process improved mechanical strength, with samples containing lower zirconia showing higher flexural strength.

Fractographic and Microhardness Evaluation of All-Ceramic Hot-Pressed and CAD/CAM Restorations after Hydrothermal Aging

Roxana Diana Vasiliu et al.

Summary: All-ceramic dental restorations have many advantages, such as esthetic properties, simple fabrication, and high abrasion resistance. This study aimed to compare the mechanical properties of hot-pressed and milled glass-ceramics through fracture resistance and microhardness testing. The results showed that microhardness values decreased after hydrothermal aging. Additionally, the static loading test revealed significant differences in fracture forces between feldspathic hot-pressed glass-ceramic and milled zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate glass-ceramic.

Chairside CAD/CAM Materials: Current Trends of Clinical Uses

Giulio Marchesi et al.

Summary: The interest in chairside CAD/CAM restorations has led to a wider variety of restorative materials being developed. While this offers improved properties and aesthetics, the complexity of application has also increased. Choosing the best material from the market's variety can be challenging for practitioners, as the clinical outcome is influenced more by the material and its handling than the CAD/CAM process. This article aims to provide an overview of chairside CAD/CAM materials, their classification, and clinically relevant aspects to help readers select the most appropriate material for predictable success.

Izim Turker et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the wear of CAD-CAM dental ceramic materials opposed by enamel under increased chewing forces, finding that composite structured materials like PICN and ZLS ceramic had a greater abrasive effect on enamel compared to zirconia. Resin nano ceramic caused the lowest enamel wear, while zirconia appeared to be enamel-friendly in terms of wear volume loss but could cause microstructural defects.
