Multiobjective optimization of the dynamic aperture using surrogate models based on artificial neural networks

M. Kranjcevic et al.

Summary: This paper aims to improve the dynamic aperture and energy acceptance of synchrotron light source storage rings by combining a multiobjective genetic algorithm (MOGA) with a modified version of the tracking code TRACY. Different approaches, including parallel implementation of MOGA and using an artificial neural network-based surrogate model, are explored to find optimal solutions with a balance between result quality and computation time. Retraining the surrogate model during optimization yields comparable solution quality to the first approach while providing a significant speedup.
