Self-reported alcohol consumption of pregnant women and their partners correlates both before and during pregnancy: A cohort study with 21,472 singleton pregnancies

Taija Voutilainen et al.

Summary: The alcohol consumption behavior of pregnant women and their partners showed a positive correlation before and during pregnancy, with a decline in correlation during pregnancy. Evaluating both parents' alcohol consumption before pregnancy could help identify women at risk of prenatal alcohol exposure, while supporting a reduction in partners' alcohol use could lead to a decrease in pregnant women's alcohol consumption and its associated harms.
