Normative Data for the NeuroCom Sensory Organization Test in United States Military Academy Boxers

Nathan E. Henry et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to establish baseline SOT measures for a military population aged 17-23 for concussion assessment and recovery. The results showed no significant differences in SOT scores between females and males, as well as between participants with and without a history of concussion.

Diagnosing vestibular hypofunction: an update

Dmitrii Starkov et al.

Summary: Unilateral or bilateral vestibular hypofunction commonly presents with symptoms of dizziness or postural imbalance, affecting a large population. Lack of quantitative testing and standardization in vestibular testing often leads to missed diagnoses. This article reviews current vestibular tests and aims to establish a consensus on systematic diagnosis of vestibular hypofunction.

Normative data for ages 18-45 for ocular motor and vestibular testing using eye tracking

Aura Kullmann et al.

Summary: Eye tracking technology has been used to assess ocular motor and vestibular function in various conditions, including traumatic brain injury. This study aimed to establish normative reference ranges for comparison, which can aid in diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation protocols for vestibular and neurological conditions, including mild TBI.

Normative values for the Sensory Organization Test in an active duty military cohort

Holly J. Roberts et al.

Summary: This study establishes normative values for the MCT, SOT and eSOT in active duty military service members. The results suggest that the manufacturer's normal values are appropriate for making judgments about the postural stability of service members. However, there were differences in MCT scores between different age groups.

Inter-rater and test-retest reliability of computerized clinical vestibular tools

Graham D. Cochrane et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the inter-rater and test-retest reliability of four vestibular tools, with results showing moderate reliability of the measurements. cDVA performed better in the inter-rater subgroup, while vHITs performed better in the test-retest subgroup. Further research is needed to replicate these analyses in a patient population and explore methodological differences between vHIT systems.

Influence of Tasking During Vestibular Testing

Kathryn Makowiec et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of different types of tasking on the measurement of peak slow phase velocity (SPV) for caloric testing and rotary chair testing. The results showed that tasking of any kind resulted in significantly larger peak SPV responses for rotary chair testing, while no significant differences were noted when comparing each type of tasking for caloric testing.
