Metal-organic framework-derived semiconductors for photocatalytic hydrogen production

Emmanuel Nyela Musa et al.

Summary: Photocatalytic hydrogen production as a green renewable fuel can achieve zero emissions and promote environmental sustainability. Metal-organic frameworks-derived semiconductors have unique properties that make them highly attractive for energy and environmental applications. However, limited understanding exists on how to maximize their activity for dual-functional photocatalysis.

NaNbO3 Nanorods: Photopiezocatalysts for Elevated Bacterial Disinfection and Wastewater Treatment

Aditi Sharma et al.

Summary: In this study, ferroelectric sodium niobate (NaNbO3) nanorods were utilized for photopiezocatalysis in water pollutant degradation and bacterial disinfection. The NaNbO3 nanorods exhibit higher catalytic activity than photocatalysis and piezocatalysis alone due to their synergistic effects. The active species involved in the catalytic process are found to be important, indicating the significance of piezocatalysis and photocatalysis. Moreover, the NaNbO3 nanorods demonstrated a degradation efficiency of 98.9% for Rhodamine B in the presence of sunlight and ultrasonic vibration.

Designing Dual-Functional Metal-Organic Frameworks for Photocatalysis

Nan-Chieh Chiu et al.

Summary: Hydrogen is an ideal alternative to fossil fuels due to its sustainability and environmental friendliness. Dual-functional photocatalysis combines the production of hydrogen with the oxidation of organic molecules to utilize both photogenerated species simultaneously. In this study, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were investigated for their electron/hole dynamics and photophysical properties, and Pt/UiO-66-pz was found to be the most efficient dual-functional photocatalyst.

N-S co-doped TiO2 synthesized by microwave precipitation method: Effective photocatalytic performance for the removal of organoarsenic compounds

D. Delgado-Diaz et al.

Summary: The N-S co-doped TiO2 photocatalyst was successfully prepared and showed enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to commercial TiO2 P25 under UV and visible light. It exhibited high removal efficiency of organic arsenic compounds and reduced effluent toxicity, demonstrating great potential for water treatment applications.
