Construction of Highly Dispersed Cu-P/Cl Active Sites Using Methyldiphenyloxophosphine for Efficient Acetylene Hydrochlorination

Lijie Yang et al.

Summary: In order to address the limitations of Cu-based catalysts, 15% Cu-Lx/AC catalysts were synthesized by creating strong interactions between a ligand and CuCl2 precursors. The introduction of the MDPO ligand effectively modulated the electronic properties of the metal centers, resulting in a highly dispersed Cu-P/Cl local structure with Cu1+/Cu2+ as the active center. The sintering of active components in the catalyst and enhanced adsorption and activation of C2H2 and HCl molecules contributed to improved catalytic performance and coking resistance.

Electron-deficient Cu site catalyzed acetylene hydrochlorination

Bolin Wang et al.

Summary: The rational design of catalyst sites to activate the C equivalent to C bond is crucial for acetylene hydrochlorination. These researchers controlled the impregnation solutions to create Cu sites with electron-rich and electron-deficient states. By establishing strong interactions with pyrrolic-N species, the activation of acetylene can be balanced with the resistance of Cu sites to reduction, leading to high catalytic performance in vinyl chloride synthesis. This study provides new insights into the rational design of catalysts for the production of vinyl chloride.

Resolving Activation Entropy of CO Oxidation under the Solid-Gas and Solid-Liquid Conditions from Machine Learning Simulation

Ling-Heng Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, the activation entropy of CO oxidation reaction on Pt(111) surface was resolved by combining a global neural network potential with umbrella sampling molecular dynamics. The results show that the CO + OH reaction is always kinetically more preferable than the CO + O reaction, regardless of the presence of an aqueous solution. Furthermore, the activation entropy contributes differently to the free-energy barrier depending on the reaction conditions, with configuration entropy dominating and the harmonic approximation for vibrational entropy being a poor approximation.
