Insights into the promotion mechanism of ceria-zirconia solid solution to ethane combustion over Pt-based catalysts

Qijun Fu et al.

Summary: By comparing the performance and reaction mechanisms of Pt/CZ11 and Pt/Al2O3 catalysts, it was found that Pt/CZ11 exhibited higher activity and combustion efficiency, which could be attributed to the strong interaction between Pt and Ce-Zr solid solution and the enrichment of surface active oxygen and oxygen vacancy.

In-Situ characterizations to investigate the nature of Co3+ coordination environment to activate surface adsorbed oxygen for methane oxidation

Linghe Song et al.

Summary: The study found that the methane oxidation activity of spinel Co3O4 catalysts depends on the different exposed crystal planes, with the high catalytic activity mainly associated with the high exposure of Co3+ and surface lattice oxygen. Adsorption oxygen species play a role in generating reactive oxygen species during the transformation of Co3+ and Co2+ structures.
