Copper Catalyzed Regioselective and Stereospecific Aziridine Opening with Pyridyl Grignard Nucleophiles

Jaehee Lee et al.

Summary: The copper-catalyzed regioselective and stereospecific coupling between aziridines and in situ generated pyridine Grignard reagents is reported in this study. This method enables the synthesis of beta-pyridylethylamines with diverse structures and functionalities, which are potential scaffolds for the synthesis of biologically active compounds commonly found in pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the synthesis of challenging chiral dihydroazaindoles was achieved through mild one-pot reaction conditions involving aziridine opening and nucleophilic cyclization.

Nickel-Catalyzed C-Heteroatom Cross-Coupling Reactions under Mild Conditions via Facilitated Reductive Elimination

Chen Zhu et al.

Summary: The formation of C-heteroatom bonds through recent advances in homo- and heterogeneous Ni-catalyzed reactions under mild conditions is attractive due to sustainability and practicability. The generation of Ni-III and excited Ni-II intermediates enables mild cross-couplings, leading to the development of various catalytic systems involving photoredox and nickel dual catalysis, photoexcited nickel catalysis, electro and nickel dual catalysis, and heterogeneous photoredox and nickel dual catalysis using different materials.

Redox-Neutral Cross-Coupling Amination with Weak N-Nucleophiles: Arylation of Anilines, Sulfonamides, Sulfoximines, Carbamates, and Imines via Nickelaelectrocatalysis

Chen Zhu et al.

Summary: A nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling amination with weak nitrogen nucleophiles is described in this study. Various weak N-nucleophiles, including anilines, sulfonamides, etc., can be efficiently coupled with aryl halides and aryl tosylates via concerted paired electrolysis. Interestingly, the product selectivity toward the formation of amine and imine product can be addressed by a base switch when benzophenone imine is applied in the arylation.
