The Use of Green-Solvent Processable Molecules with Large Dipole Moments in the Electron Extraction Layer of Inverted Organic Solar Cells as a Universal Route for Enhancing Stability

Mozhgan Sadeghianlemraski et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of green-solvent processable molecules with large dipole moments as electron extraction layers (DM-EELs) in organic solar cells (OSCs) and finds that they substantially suppress degradation and enhance stability in both photoinduced and temporal degradation mechanisms. These DM-EEL OSCs show minimal recombination mechanism changes even after UV exposure, contrasting with the limitations of ZnO cells due to significant shunt formation and UV-induced surface recombination. The results suggest that utilizing green-solvent processable materials with large dipole moments as EELs can provide a universal route for improving the stability of inverted OSCs.
