Spectral fingerprinting: microstate readout via remanence ferromagnetic resonance in artificial spin ice

Alex Vanstone et al.

Summary: Artificial spin ices (ASIs) are magnetic metamaterials composed of geometrically tiled nanomagnets, which have significant physics and application potential. This study investigates the measurement of spin-wave responses under zero-field conditions and demonstrates its ability to provide a "spectral fingerprint" of the system microstate. This approach allows separate measurement of dipolar field strength, quenched disorder, and net magnetization, and enables rapid and scalable microstate readouts.

Memristive Effects in Nanopatterned Permalloy Kagome Array

W. B. J. Fonseca et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the memristive effects in kagome nanopatterned permalloy. We discover the presence of a thermistor effect at low frequencies, which is caused by lithography and not found in similar experiments on thin films. An independent anisotropic magnetoresistive study confirms the existence of this effect, although a small hysteresis accounting for 1% of the effect is not attributable to the thermistor effect. By carefully subtracting nearby thermal hysteresis, the presence of this effect is further confirmed. A effective model is provided to describe the experimental results for the thermistor in the millihertz regime, showing a crossover from the millihertz to the gigahertz range, from a thermistor effect to a memristive effect for nanopatterned permalloy.

KNOWM memristors in a bridge synapse delay-based reservoir computing system for detection of epileptic seizures

Dawid Przyczyna et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential of nanodevices as computational substrates for non-linear transformation of electrical signals and memory in the context of epileptic seizure detection. By utilizing a single-node Echo State Machine (SNESM) based on bridge synapse, the system shows improved classification accuracy through the evolution of the signal in a feedback loop. The transformation in SNESM alters the correlation and distribution of complexity parameters in the input signal, ultimately leading to better classification scores.

Enhancing computational performance of a spin-wave reservoir computer with input synchronization

Stuart Watt et al.

Summary: A spin-wave delay-line active-ring oscillator has been proposed as a suitable substrate for physical reservoir computing, displaying the required properties of fading memory and nonlinearity. By increasing the signal delay time, the improved system shows strong performance on both linear and nonlinear computing tasks. The extended delay time and other major improvements result in maximum capacities for both linear and nonlinear tasks.
