Jingjing Jiao et al.

Summary: This study reports the formation of an unexpected and unique family of chiral helicates, whose molecular helicity can be controlled by the configuration of bimetallic vertices and exhibits highly enantio- and helix-sense-selective recognition for chiral amino alcohols. The transformation of single-molecule chirality to global supramolecular chirality within well-defined helicates is highly dependent on the superior microenvironments.

Self-assembled metallasupramolecular cages towards light harvesting systems for oxidative cyclization

Atul Kumar et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the synthesis of three molecular cages for efficient light harvesting in aqueous medium, with high molar extinction coefficients and large Stokes shifts. These cages exhibit aggregation-induced emission (AIE) in water/MeCN mixture and solid state, and can be used as donors for artificial light harvesting systems with high energy efficiency and good antenna effect. The harvested energy from the light harvesting systems was successfully utilized for visible light induced photo-oxidative cross coupling cyclization of N,N-dimethylaniline with N-alkyl/aryl maleimides in aqueous acetonitrile with significant enhancement in yields.
