Experimental and COSMO-RS theoretical exploration of rutin formulations in natural deep eutectic solvents: Solubility, stability, antioxidant activity, and bioaccessibility

Boris M. Popovic et al.

Summary: The present study estimated the solubility of rutin in twelve natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) and compared the results with theoretical predictions. It was found that the theoretical predictions and experimental determinations of solubilities were in excellent agreement. The highest solubility of rutin was observed in 1,2-propanediol and urea-based systems. Furthermore, it was discovered that the urea-based system protected rutin against UV-induced oxidation and improved its bioaccessibility.

Molecular mechanisms of anticancer effect of rutin

Amir Imani et al.

Summary: Rutin, a polyphenolic bioflavonoid, has been extensively studied for its antioxidant properties and pharmacological applications in cancer research due to its safety and minor side effects. In-vivo and in-vitro examinations have shown that rutin regulates various cellular signaling pathways to mediate its anticancer effects, making it a promising compound for cancer treatment.

Third-generation solid dispersion combining Soluplus and poloxamer 407 enhances the oral bioavailability of resveratrol

Teofilo Vasconcelos et al.

Summary: Resveratrol, a promising anti-oxidant drug candidate, was formulated into third-generation solid dispersions using Soluplus and Tween 80 as carriers, significantly enhancing its solubility. In vivo studies showed that formulations containing 15% poloxamer 407 demonstrated the most promising results, with a 2.5 fold increase in bioavailability compared to formulations without poloxamer 407.

Role of Surfactant Micellization for Enhanced Dissolution of Poorly Water-Soluble Cilostazol Using Poloxamer 407-Based Solid Dispersion via the Anti-Solvent Method

Gang Jin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of micellization of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) in enhancing the dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drugs in poloxamer 407 (POX)-based solid dispersions (POX-based SDs) using the anti-solvent method. The results showed that incorporating micellar SLS into SDs via the anti-solvent method could effectively improve the physical and chemical properties of SDs, reduce particle aggregation and recrystallization, and enhance the dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drugs.
