Medicine, media and the law: The effect on training in obstetrics and gynaecology

Summary: This study demonstrates that trainee doctors perceive media scrutiny and litigation to have a negative effect on the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology. Furthermore, they believe that medicolegal issues negatively impact retention and recruitment. Over three quarters of trainee doctors consider leaving the specialty due to these factors.
