PDE4DIP in health and diseases

Arya Mani

Summary: Cyclic-AMP (cAMP) plays important roles in the heart by facilitating excitation-contraction coupling and increasing heart rate and conduction velocity. It is degraded by a class of enzymes called phosphodiesterase (PDE), which generates dynamic microdomains through anchoring proteins to target specific proteins and control cell functions. Impaired anchoring protein function can lead to heart diseases.

The potential, analysis and prospect of ctDNA sequencing in hepatocellular carcinoma

Yubo Ding et al.

Summary: In this study, the mutations of ctDNA in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were analyzed through sequencing, and various databases and analysis tools were used to evaluate the findings. The results indicate that ctDNA can be used for sequencing and identify genes significantly associated with the prognosis of liver cancer. These findings enrich the understanding of genetic variation in Chinese patients with liver cancer and provide new insights for the diagnosis and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Tumor Suppressive Role of MUC6 in Wilms Tumor via Autophagy-Dependent β-Catenin Degradation

Bai-Hui Liu et al.

Summary: This study identified seven novel gene mutations in wilms tumor, with MUC6 being the most prevalent mutation. MUC6 acts as a tumor suppressive gene through autophagy dependent beta-catenin pathway.

Whole exome sequencing reveals the genetic heterogeneity and evolutionary history of primary gliomas and matched recurrences

Peng-Fei Xu et al.

Summary: Branching evolution is widespread in the recurrent process of gliomas, and recurrent tumors continue to evolve independently with chemoradiotherapy, harboring multiple recurrenceselected genetic alterations. Truncal variants within partial driver genes among primary and recurrent gliomas may be ideal therapeutic targets.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Role of oncogenic KRAS in the prognosis, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer

Gongmin Zhu et al.

Summary: KRAS is a commonly mutated oncogene in colorectal cancer, leading to aberrant activation of the KRAS protein and stimulation of downstream signaling pathways, resulting in cell proliferation and survival, ultimately leading to tumorigenesis. Patients with KRAS mutations in CRC have poor prognosis.
