Reduction of radiation exposure using low pulse rate fluoroscopy during neuroendovascular surgery

Takeshi Shimizu et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed radiation data and clinical features of 100 patients who underwent CAS between 2014 and 2019. The pulse rate was changed from 7.5 to 4 f/s in 2017, and fluoroscopic time, dose area product, and total air kerma were collected for analysis of the effects on radiation exposure and clinical outcomes.

Comparison of a contrast-to-noise ratio-driven exposure control and a regular detector dose-driven exposure control in abdominal imaging in a clinical angiography system

Thomas Werncke et al.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the precision of maintaining target CNR in angiography between CNR-driven exposure control (CEC) and conventional detector dose-driven exposure control (DEC), as well as estimate the difference in incident air kerma between the two when reaching the same CNR. Results showed that CEC was more effective in maintaining a predefined CNR level compared to DEC, using equal or lower air kerma to provide a given CNR level.
