Rudists (Bivalvia: Hippuritida) from the Lower Cretaceous Khalsi Formation, Ladakh, India, and their palaeogeographic implications

Prasenjit Barman et al.

Summary: Rudist fauna from the Khalsi Formation in southern Ladakh, India is described, including the first record of A. biconvexus and M. rutogensis in the region. The presence of A. gilgitensis in the early Aptian suggests an eastern dispersal pattern. The finding of M. rutogensis fills a geographical gap and supports the hypothesis of the evolution of Plagioptychidae.

Mid-Cretaceous thick carbonate accumulation in Northern Lhasa (Tibet): eustatic vs. tectonic control?

Yiwei Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the accumulation and formation mechanism of carbonates in the northern Lhasa terrane during the mid-Cretaceous. Through detailed sedimentological and stratigraphic investigation, three stages of paleogeographic evolution were identified. The study emphasizes the eustatic control on the evolution, modulated by tectonic subsidence and carbonate productivity.
