Efficient structural manipulation of PbS in Er-doped silica optical fibers for enhanced amplification systems

Tingyun Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel Er-doped silica optical fiber (PEDF) modified by PbS semiconductor incorporation was reported for the first time. The loose porous structure of the Er2O3 nanofilms deposited on the substrate via atomic layer deposition (ALD) facilitated the dissolution and provided an optimal local environment for Er3+ ions. The PEDF exhibited a higher Er3+ ion fluorescence lifetime, maximum gain of 34 dB, lowest noise figure of 3.9 dB, and a 44% higher gain bandwidth compared to EDF.

Summary: In this study, a few-mode PbS quantum dot-doped fiber amplifier (FM-PQDFA) was developed and numerically studied. The amplifier can effectively amplify linear polarization signal modes, and the gain, noise figure, and differential mode gain can be optimized by adjusting the pump light mode.

Co-Doping Effect of Bismuth Ions on the Gain Characteristics of Er-Doped Silica Optical Fiber

Zexin Zheng et al.

Summary: By studying the spectral and amplification characteristics of Er-doped silica fiber and Bi/Er co-doped silica fiber, an active doped silica fiber with broadband- and flat-gain was investigated. The results suggest that co-doping with Bi ions enhances emission and gain cross-sections, broadens bandwidth, and optimizes flatness, showing significant potential for applications in optical fiber amplifiers, lasers, sensors, etc.

Improved Fluorescence and Gain Characteristics of Er-Doped Optical Fiber with PbS Nanomaterials Co-Doping

Xiangping Pan et al.

Summary: This study explores the introduction of PbS nanomaterials in the silica network to improve the gain bandwidth of Er-doped optical fiber (EDF). By fabricating modified PbS/Er co-doped optical fiber (PEDF), the fluorescence bandwidth is expanded and the gain bandwidth is significantly improved.

Temperature-induced PbS quantum dots with tunable broadband wavelength grown by atomic layer deposition

Xiangping Pan et al.

Summary: Lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots were deposited on silica substrates by atomic layer deposition (ALD) to control their size. The size-controlled PbS QDs showed changes in growth orientation as the size of nanocrystals increased, with enhanced near-infrared luminescence and increased photoluminescence lifetime. The temperature-induced characteristics of the ALD-fabricated PbS QD films were also studied through annealing, showing different growth behaviors at different temperatures.

Influence of Al/Er ratio on the optical properties and structures of Er3+/Al3+ co-doped silica glasses

Yan Jiao et al.

Summary: This study prepared Er3+/Al3+ co-doped silica glasses with different Al/Er ratios and constant Er2O3 amount using the sol-gel method. The structural changes due to the Al/Er ratio change were found to affect the spectroscopic properties of Er3+ ions. As the Al/Er ratio increased, variations in the Er3+ local environment and changes in the ligand field strength of the Er-O bonds were observed, resulting in absorption and emission spectra broadening.

Co-doping effect of lead or erbium upon the spectroscopic properties of bismuth doped optical fibres

Gui Xiao et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the impact of lead or erbium co-doping on the spectroscopic properties of Bi-doped fibers, demonstrating that lead co-doping can more effectively suppress the formation and emission of bismuth-related active centers, possibly due to the analogy property between Bin+ and Pbn+.
