A systematic review on chlorine tolerance among bacteria and standardization of their assessment protocol in wastewater

Vinayak Gupta et al.

Summary: This review critically assesses the mechanism of chlorine disinfection, factors affecting chlorination efficacy, and the re-growth potential of microbial contaminations in treated wastewater. A standard protocol is proposed for the assessment of chlorine tolerance in bacteria.

Potential of ceramic ultrafiltration membranes for the treatment of anionic surfactants in laundry wastewater for greywater reuse

Soyoun Kim et al.

Summary: Decentralized greywater treatment is becoming popular as an alternative to natural water supplies, with a focus on reusing laundry wastewater. However, effectively removing low molecular weight organic pollutants remains a challenge. Research shows that ceramic UF membranes have the potential to successfully retain typical anionic surfactants like SDBS found in laundry wastewater, by carefully controlling operating parameters.

Development of a new composite ceramic membrane from mullite, silicon carbide and activated carbon for treating greywater

Behrouz Jafari et al.

Summary: The study evaluated a novel composite ceramic membrane for treating and recycling on-site greywater. The Mullite/SiC/AC membrane showed the highest pure-water permeability and removal efficiency for various contaminants. The addition of silicon carbide and activated carbon improved surface roughness and overall performance of the membrane.
