Inhalation and ingestion of Synthetic musks in pregnant women: In silico spontaneous abortion risk evaluation and control

Xixi Li et al.

Summary: This study aimed to reduce the abortion risk of Synthetic musks (SMs) by designing a supplementary diet plan and environmentally friendly SMs derivatives using molecular docking and 3D-QSAR models. The combination of vitamins in the diet plan reduced abortion risk for pregnant women. The new SMs derivative showed lower environmental impacts and improved functional properties compared to the precursor, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical circumvention strategy for abortion risk control.

Jiawen Yang et al.

Summary: A multilevel index system of organophosphate flame retardant bioremediation effect was established in an e-waste handling area, and three bioremediation scenarios were investigated. The study found that mutant proteins in the plant-microbial system exhibited high efficiency in degrading organophosphate flame retardants. It was also discovered that the consumption of certain foods, such as corn, pig liver, and yam, could reduce the exposure and genotoxicity of organophosphate flame retardants.

A Multi-model Air Quality System for Health Research: Road model development and evaluation

Martin Seaton et al.

Summary: Poor air quality has a significant impact on life expectancy and quality of life worldwide. A new quasi-Gaussian road source dispersion model, ADMS-Local, has been developed to quantify the effects of air pollution on health. This model takes into account the influence of urban morphology and near-road NOX chemistry processes, providing high spatial resolution for pollutant concentration gradients.

Biodegradation of dioxins by Burkholderia cenocepacia strain 869T2: Role of 2-haloacid dehalogenase

Bao-Anh Thi Nguyen et al.

Summary: In this study, the endophytic bacterium Burkholderia cenocapacia 869T2 was found to degrade the most toxic dioxin congener TCDD by nearly 95% after one-week of an aerobic incubation, with a potential general dioxin degradation pathway proposed. The investigation also revealed the crucial role of a catabolic gene, L-2-haloacid dehalogenase (2-HAD), in dioxin dehalogenation in aerobic conditions. Transcriptional analysis indicated high gene expressions of catabolic genes involved in dioxin metabolism in the presence of TCDD.

Wenhui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed a comprehensive method for characterizing the combined degradation effect of modified fluoroquinolones through various models and simulations. By screening derivatives with improved degradation effect and performing risk assessments, the study demonstrated the reliability of the revised 3D-QSAR model and provided insights for molecular design. Additionally, the study investigated the simulation paths of photo- and microbial degradation, and used MD and toxicokinetics simulations to predict potential environmental risks of degradation pathways, contributing to the screening of environmentally friendly drugs and risk management strategies.

Interaction of Rhizospheric Bacteria and Nonrhizobial Endophytic Bacteria Moving from the Roots to the Rhizosphere of Pea Plants (Pisum sativum)

L. E. Makarova et al.

Summary: Research showed that six strains of endophytic bacteria from pea seeds had different effects on the composition and concentration of endophytic bacteria in the rhizosphere of pea seedlings under hydroculture conditions. These endophytes also exhibited varying capacities for degrading N-phenyl-2-naphthylamine (N-PNA) to produce phthalates, which determined their involvement in controlling the relationship between pea plants and bacteria with different interaction strategies.

Global status of dioxin emission and China's role in reducing the emission

Rongrong Lei et al.

Summary: This study compiled the global status of dioxin emissions across 150 countries/regions, using China as an example. It found that open burning processes were the most important sources of dioxins globally, with emissions in developed countries remaining low and stable, while those in developing countries remained high. China's dioxin emissions have been stable around 9 kg TEQ, with industries such as metal production and waste incineration having significant potential for reduction.
