Identification and molecular mapping of a major quantitative trait locus underlying branch angle in soybean

Chancelor B. Clark et al.

Summary: In this study, a major QTL controlling soybean branch angle was identified on chromosome 19, with wide branch angle (WBA) from wild soybean being dominant over narrow branch angle (NBA). Molecular markers in the QTL region from two mapping populations can be used for marker-assisted selection in soybean breeding, providing valuable insights for improving soybean varieties.

QTL identification, fine mapping, and marker development for breeding peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) resistant to bacterial wilt

Feiyan Qi et al.

Summary: This study fine mapped a major QTL qBWA12 for bacterial wilt resistance in peanut and identified a useful KASP marker for breeding disease-resistant varieties. The qBWA12 QTL was stably detected in multiple developmental stages and trial years and nine potential NBS-LRR genes were found in the candidate gene region.

Summary: This study successfully mapped the QTL associated with peanut growth habit-related traits by combining GWAS and BSA-seq methods. Several SNPs and candidate genes related to peanut growth habit were identified, providing molecular targets for marker-assisted selection.

Stable major QTL on chromosomes A07 and A08 increase shelling percentage in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Weitao Li et al.

Summary: This study mapped the quantitative trait loci (QTL) controlling shelling percentage (SP) in peanut using a mapping population. Two stable major QTL were identified, which explained a significant proportion of phenotypic variation. These QTL provide an opportunity for fine mapping of genes controlling SP and offer potential for genetic improvement of SP in peanut.

QTL mapping of quality traits in peanut using whole-genome resequencing

Ziqi Sun et al.

Summary: High-density linkage map was constructed and QTL for oil and protein content, and fatty acid composition in peanut were identified through whole-genome resequencing. The qA05.1 locus showed significant phenotypic effect on oil, protein, and fatty acid contents. Two SNP sites in this region can be potentially utilized as markers for marker-assisted breeding of peanut cultivars with high oil content.

Identification of consistent QTL for time to maturation in Virginia-type Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Srinivas Kunta et al.

Summary: This study investigated the genetic control of time-to-maturation (TTM) in Virginia market-type peanut using a SNP-based high-density genetic map. Highly segregated maturity index (MI) in the population and 30 QTL were identified for all measured traits on 24 linkage groups. Two consistent QTL regions for MI were found on chromosomes A04 and B03, with potential pleiotropic effects on other agronomic traits.
