In this study, a novel sensitive electrochemical nanobiosensor for miR-155, a biomarker for early breast cancer detection, was introduced. The nanobiosensor utilized a combination of Fe-Ni@rGO, GQD-Ag, and GNS nanomaterials to expand the surface area and conductivity of the electrode, resulting in high sensitivity and specificity for miR-155 detection.

Summary: The use of plants for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles offers a cost-effective, renewable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional methods, with the key bioactive compounds identified as phenolic compounds, flavonoids, proteins and terpenoids. Factors such as reaction period, concentration of gold precursor, reaction temperature, volume of plant extract and pH of reaction mixture play decisive roles in determining the size, morphology and stability of the synthesized AuNPs, while growth kinetics can be predicted using Ostwald ripening and Orientation attachment models. This review aims to address key research challenges and future directions in phytosynthesis of AuNPs, including the identification of reactive phytochemicals, optimization of reaction conditions and mathematical estimation of growth kinetics for tailor-made surface features-based phytofabrication.
