Assessment of pesticide induced inhibition of Apis mellifera (honeybee) acetylcholinesterase by means of N-doped carbon dots/BSA nanocomposite modified electrochemical biosensor

Sehrish Bilal et al.

Summary: This study developed and optimized an electrochemical method to evaluate pesticide-induced inhibition of honey bee AChE using a biosensor. The N-CD/BSA nanocomposite electrode was successfully used to immobilize AChE and test the sensitivity of Diazinon. Molecular docking also provided support for the irreversible nature and contact toxicity of the pesticide for honey bee AChE. The biosensor proved useful for detecting Diazinon in wheat samples with a 99% recovery rate.

A treatise on Organophosphate pesticide pollution: Current strategies and advancements in their environmental degradation and elimination

Jyoti Kaushal et al.

Summary: Pesticides have been widely used in agriculture for pest control, with organophosphate pesticides being one of the most commonly used types. These pesticides cause irreversible inhibition of the AChE enzyme in living beings, leading to respiratory and neuromuscular impairments. The residues of organophosphate pesticides pose a threat to the environment and human health, with research focusing on the toxicological effects and methods of detection and degradation.
