Osteological characters of birds and reptiles are more congruent with molecular phylogenies than soft characters are

Leah M. Callender-Crowe et al.

Summary: Despite the increasing use of genomic data in phylogenetics, morphological information remains crucial for resolving evolutionary relationships, especially for fossil taxa. Osteological characters show greater consistency with molecular data than soft characters, and there are significant differences in the resolution of morphological partitions on molecular trees. This reflects evolutionary dynamics differences between morphological partitions and supports phylogenetic interpretations of fossil data, including primarily osteological dinosaurs. Recent advances in amphibian and mammal phylogenetics may allow testing of these patterns in all tetrapods.

Total evidence and sensitivity phylogenetic analyses of egg-brooding frogs (Anura: Hemiphractidae)

Lourdes Y. Echevarria et al.

Summary: The study focused on the phylogenetic relationships of egg-brooding frogs, revealing the monophyly of Hemiphractidae and its six genera. It also demonstrated that differences among studies were mainly influenced by analytical factors rather than character or taxon sampling. Additionally, the study highlighted the impact of different optimality criteria, alignment methods, and indel coding schemes on optimal topologies.
