Direct Growth of Hexagonal Boron Nitride Nanofilms on Stainless Steel for Corrosion Protection

Xuemei Tang et al.

Summary: The direct growth of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanofilms on stainless steel (ss304) using the magnetron sputtering method serves as an effective barrier coating for protection in corrosive environments. These nanofilms, with a highly densified morphology and hydrophobic surface, exhibit excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures and enhanced anticorrosion performance compared to bare ss304. The results suggest that h-BN nanofilms hold great promise for long-term corrosion protection and antioxidation of steel surfaces in practical applications.

New Promising Ceramic Coatings for Corrosion and Wear Protection of Steels: A Review

Navid Attarzadeh et al.

Summary: Steel, with its excellent properties, is widely used in various applications, but it lacks corrosion and wear resistance. Ceramic coatings produced via plasma electrolytic oxidation have been utilized to enhance steel's protective properties. Researchers have developed new methods to overcome the challenges in forming ceramic coatings on steel surfaces and improved the efficiency of PEO ceramic coatings.

Surface Roughness Explains the Observed Water Contact Angle and Slip Length on 2D Hexagonal Boron Nitride

Ashutosh Kumar Verma et al.

Summary: The study found that 2D hBN surfaces with surface roughness accurately predict the experimental water contact angle and water slip length, while vacancy defects have no effect on the experimental results. Therefore, when modeling nanomaterial-water interfaces in molecular simulations, the influence of surface roughness should be considered.
