Phase distribution and properties identification of heterogeneous materials: A data-driven approach

Gabriel Valdes-Alonzo et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new methodology to extend the Data-Driven Identification (DDI) to heterogeneous samples made of multiple elastic materials. By using the Correspondence Analysis (CA) technique to post-process DDI, the study is able to identify representative material databases for each phase and localize the different phases in the sample. It shows that the method is effective for estimating stresses and identifying different phases in the sample, and it can be improved by iterating between DDI and CA when input data is limited.

Extracting material parameters of silicone elastomers under biaxial tensile tests using virtual fields method and investigating the effect of missing deformation data close to specimen edges on parameter identification

Summary: In this study, the virtual fields method (VFM) was used to extract constitutive parameters of silicone elastomers under equi-biaxial and general biaxial tests. It was found that the negative effects of missing data and noise introduced by digital image correlation (DIC) can be mitigated by properly scaling the load applied to the specimen boundary and extracting parameters through the least square method based on deformation fields of all loading steps.
