Relationship between muscular extensibility, strength and stability and the transmission of impacts during fatigued running

Alberto Encarnacion-Martinez et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between isokinetic strength, dynamic stability, muscular extensibility, and impacts transmission during fatigued running. The results showed that high-frequency impacts were negatively correlated to knee angle, hamstring, and soleus extensibility. Fatigue-induced increases in high-frequency impacts were positively related to knee angle and stability after landing. The attenuation of high-frequency impacts was positively associated with the hamstring/quadriceps strength ratio and stability.

Impact Acceleration During Prolonged Running While Wearing Conventional Versus Minimalist Shoes

Marta Izquierdo-Renau et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the impact of running with minimalist footwear on foot-impact accelerations during a prolonged run. Results showed that minimalist shoes increased stride frequency, decreased stride length, and resulted in higher impact acceleration, potentially increasing the risk of injury.

Treadmill and Running Speed Effects on Acceleration Impacts: Curved Non-Motorized Treadmill vs. Conventional Motorized Treadmill

Alberto Encarnacion-Martinez et al.

Summary: The study found that running on the curved non-motorized treadmill led to lower impact accelerations compared to running on a motorized treadmill, along with reductions in head acceleration rate, tibia peak, and tibia magnitude. Additionally, higher heart rate and rating of perceived effort were observed while running on the curved non-motorized treadmill.
