Theoretical study on the optical properties of an ESIPT-based fluorescent probe for phosgene

Zefei Zheng et al.

Summary: In this study, density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) methods were used to investigate the detection mechanism of a fluorescent probe for phosgene. The analysis of molecular structure parameters and infrared vibrations confirmed the enhancement of the intramolecular hydrogen bond under light excitation, supporting the occurrence of excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction. The simulated spectra revealed that the probe exhibited double fluorescence through the ESIPT process, while the fluorescent product showed single fluorescence due to the disappearance of the intramolecular hydrogen bond.

The recent development of fluorescent probes for the detection of NADH and NADPH in living cells and in vivo

Pengjuan Sun et al.

Summary: This review discusses fluorescent probes developed for monitoring NADH and NADPH levels in living cells and in vivo, which can rapidly respond to changes without interference from other biomolecules. These probes have been used to monitor cell status, cancer cells, and cell death, and are expected to inspire the development of novel fluorescent probes for NADH and NADPH detection.

An Activatable Near-Infrared Fluorescence Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Donor for Imaging H2S Release and Inhibiting Inflammation in Cells

Xinyue Zhao et al.

Summary: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a vital endogenous signal molecule with critical physiological functions, but its site-specific delivery and release in biological systems remains a challenge. The newly developed Pro-S donor shows excellent release efficiency and live-cell compatibility, allowing real-time capturing of H2S and demonstrating anti-inflammatory effects in cells.

Recent progress in reaction-based fluorescent probes for active sulfur small molecules

Qingqing Yang et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the fluorescent probes that can detect and image active sulfur small molecules based on their non-invasiveness, fast response times, and real-time in situ detection capability. The probes are classified according to the different reaction types of each small molecule, with detailed summaries of the reaction mechanisms provided. The challenges of active sulfur small molecules-responsive fluorescent probes are also emphasized in the review, aiming to provide implications for future research.
