Development of an HPLC-DAD Method Combined with Chemometrics for Differentiating Geographical Origins of Chinese Red Wines on the Basis of Phenolic Compounds

Qiao Wu et al.

Summary: This study successfully differentiated Chinese red wines from different geographical origins using the HPLC-DAD method combined with chemometrics. The MCR-ALS extracted pure chromatographic and spectral profiles, allowing for quantification of phenolic compounds in the presence of overlapping peaks. Unsupervised PCA and HCA, as well as supervised OPLS-DA methods, were used to analyze the data and predict the geographical origins of the red wines.

Identification of cumin and fennel from different regions based on generative adversarial networks and near infrared spectroscopy

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: In this experiment, NIR spectra of cumin and fennel samples were collected and deep learning and traditional machine learning algorithms combined with PCA were used for identification. The GAN model showed better generalization ability and higher classification accuracy. The four models achieved great classification results in the cumin and fennel classification experiment within the same region.

Effect of region of origin on willingness to pay for wine: an experimental auction

Carla Ferreira et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the region of origin on wine consumers' preferences and willingness to pay, using an experimental auction mechanism. Results suggest that the region of origin plays a significant role in consumers' hedonic evaluation, with consumers willing to pay higher prices when provided with complete information. Factors such as purchase frequency and self-reported wine knowledge negatively influence willingness to pay, while taste has a positive effect. The study highlights the importance of understanding preference heterogeneity and the role of the region of origin for policymakers.
