K. Dieter et al.

Summary: Spatially and temporally resolved information on thermochemical conditions in hydrocarbon/air flames is obtained through spontaneous Raman/Rayleigh scattering, using a novel gas heater based on mixing hydrocarbons with helium at high temperatures and a multipass Raman spectrometer to characterize ro-vibrational Raman scattering of gaseous ethanol at high temperatures.

Depolarization Ratio of the ν1 Raman Band of Pure CH4 and Perturbed by N2 and CO2

Aleksandr S. Tanichev et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of nitrogen and carbon dioxide on the depolarization ratio of the nu(1) band of methane. The results indicate that the influence of nitrogen and carbon dioxide on this parameter is negligible within the specified pressure range. These findings are important for improving the accuracy of gas analysis methods using Raman spectroscopy.

Raman Natural Gas Analyzer: Effects of Composition on Measurement Precision

Dmitry V. Petrov et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the application of Raman spectroscopy in analyzing natural gas. The experimental results show that Raman gas analyzers can accurately measure samples with varying concentrations without frequent calibrations. Additionally, the study found that changes in gas composition can affect the spectral lines of methane, resulting in measurement errors in oxygen concentration.

A high-precision CO2 densimeter for Raman spectroscopy using a Fluid Density Calibration Apparatus

Charlotte L. DeVitre et al.

Summary: The study proposed a new Fluid Density Calibration Apparatus (FDCA) with improved temperature measurement accuracy for CO2 densimetry in inclusions. Five new precise calibration equations were developed for different temperature and CO2 density ranges, resulting in total percent uncertainty below 5% in CO2 content calculations for samples, significantly outperforming existing literature densimeters with uncertainty higher than 10% and up to 28%.

Raman spectral behavior of N2, CO2, and CH4 in N2-CO2-CH4 gas mixtures from 22°C to 200°C and 10 to 500 bars, with application to other gas mixtures

D. Matthew Sublett Jr et al.

Summary: The Raman spectral behavior of N-2, CO2, and CH4 in ternary N-2-CO2-CH4 mixtures was studied, with N-2 showing lower wavenumbers in all mixtures, while CO2 and CH4 exhibited different peak shifts. The relationships between peak positions and mole fractions were found to be more complex for CH4 compared with N-2 and CO2. Additionally, the study extended the relationship between the peak position of N-2 and pressure in ternary N-2-bearing systems to assess similarities in Raman spectral behavior.

Measurements of pressure broadening of N2 in the anisotropic tensor component of spontaneous Raman spectra

Timothy W. Haller et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of high density on the anisotropic tensor component of ro-vibrational spontaneous Raman scattering in different gas compositions, finding that collision broadening coefficients vary among pure nitrogen, air, and nitrogen in argon. Line broadening coefficients in the anisotropic component show slight deviations compared to isotropic Q branch, and line mixing effects in the anisotropic part of the Q branch may not be significant at high pressures.
