Nanoencapsulation of Essential Oils as Natural Food Antimicrobial Agents: An Overview

Wei Liao et al.

Summary: The global demand for safe and healthy food with minimal synthetic preservatives is growing. Natural food antimicrobials such as essential oils have strong antimicrobial activities but face intrinsic barriers. Advances in nanotechnology offer potential to overcome these barriers and use essential oils as food preservatives at low doses.

Synergistic effect of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) decoction alongside with three-drug and four-drug treatment protocols on Helicobacter pylori eradication

Touraj Ahmadi-Jouybari et al.

Summary: The study showed that the decoction of cumin, when used in combination with three-drug protocol, had a higher eradication rate of H. pylori in patients with peptic ulcer compared to other groups. Additionally, cumin combined with omeprazole had a 61.5% eradication rate, while the three-drug and four-drug protocols alone had eradication rates of 77.8% and 58.33% respectively. This suggests that cumin decoction could be a beneficial complementary treatment to enhance H. pylori eradication when used alongside conventional therapy.
