Summary: Novel lead-free composites based on ABS/FQ were synthesized and their phase structure, sintering behavior, dielectric properties, and thermal expansion coefficient were investigated. The results showed that higher FQ content decreased the density of the composites, while lower FQ content resulted in lower thermal expansion coefficient. The composite with 65 wt% ABS and 35 wt% FQ exhibited the best performance.

Tailoring temperature stability of MgAl2O4 microwave dielectric ceramic via (Cu0.5Ti0.5)3+ co-substituted

Peicheng Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, MgAl2-x(Cu0.5Ti0.5)(x)O-4 ceramic was synthesized using the solid-state route and its crystalline phases, crystal structure, and microwave dielectric properties were investigated. The results showed that the densification and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics were affected by the content of (Cu0.5Ti0.5)(3+) and sintering temperature, as well as the presence of secondary phases. The optimal microwave dielectric properties were obtained. The ceramics exhibited excellent temperature stability, low transmission delay time, and low dielectric loss.

Summary: In this study, Mg2Al4-x(Mg0.5Ti0.5)(x)Si5O18 ceramics were successfully synthesized via solid-state reaction. The ceramics exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties, with Mg2Al4Si5O18 as the main phase and SiO2, TiO2, and Al2SiO5 as secondary phases. The substitution of Al3+ by (Mg0.5Ti0.5)(3+) followed a complex chemical reaction.

Volume crystallization and microwave dielectric properties of indialite/cordierite glass by TiO2 addition

Hitoshi Ohsato et al.

Summary: Indialite/cordierite (Mg2Al4Si5O18) glass-ceramics with low dielectric constant and high Qf are potential materials for micro/millimeter-wave applications in 5G mobile communication systems. The addition of TiO2 was found to prevent cracking during surface crystallization, resulting in the formation of spherical crystals and specific precipitated phases. The reaction between cordierite and TiO2 produced the new Al2TiO5 phase, influencing the microwave dielectric properties.

Summary: The study of Zn3-xLi2x(BO3)(2) ceramics prepared by solid-state reaction method shows that the ionicity and lattice energy of the B-O bond play a more significant role in electric polarization and phase structure stability than the A-site bond. Li+ substitution contributes greatly to improving temperature stability and reducing dielectric loss.

Summary: A novel Li3Mg4NbO8 compound with an orthorhombic crystal structure resembling Li3Mg2NbO6 was fabricated through solid-state reaction. The microwave dielectric properties of Li3Mg4NbO8 ceramics were found to be strongly influenced by density and ionic polarization. Ceramics sintered at 1150°C showed excellent microwave dielectric performance with ε(r) = 13.8 +/- 0.14, Q x f = 103 400 +/- 3500 GHz (at 9.6 GHz), and Tau(f) = -36.0 +/- 1 ppm/°C. Bond characteristics were also calculated for a better understanding of the structure-property correlation for Li3Mg4NbO8 ceramics.

Summary: High-Qf and low-epsilon(r) MgAl2O4-based ceramics were obtained via conventional solid-state reaction method. Excellent microwave dielectric properties were achieved with x=0.5 samples sintered at 1550 degrees C. The dense microstructure, secondary phases, and cation vacancies dominated the high Qf values, while secondary phases and ionic polarizability mainly affected the epsilon r values. The ceramics show potential applications in millimeter-wave communication, dielectric filters, antennas, and resonators.
