Test method for minimum and maximum densities of small quantities of soil

Zorana Mijic et al.

Summary: Determining the relative density of sandy soil requires establishing the minimum and maximum void ratios. An alternative test method was proposed for cases where the standard-size mold cannot be used due to insufficient material from small undisturbed test specimens. The results showed good agreement between the minimum and maximum void ratios determined by both the standard and alternative methods for composite soil, with consistent trends compared to previous studies.

Cone penetration tests in dry and saturated Ticino sand

Max O. Kluger et al.

Summary: Studies suggest that dry and saturated sands generally exhibit similar cone resistance-relative density relationships, but factors such as partial saturation and fines content may affect these relationships. Experimental evidence shows that clean uncemented quartz sand may have lower cone resistance in saturated conditions.
