Ultra-broadband, fast, and polarization-sensitive photoresponse of low-symmetry 2D NdSb2

Gang Li et al.

Summary: Broadband photodetectors with polarization-sensitive ability have attracted significant attention for their potential use in optoelectronic devices. In this work, a low-symmetry two-dimensional material, neodymium diantimonides (NdSb2), is introduced as a highly anisotropic material for broadband detection. The photodetector demonstrates high responsivity and fast response time at 532 nm, as well as stable performance over a long period of time. The polarization sensitivity and anisotropic factor of the detector are also investigated, revealing its potential for high-performance polarized photodetectors.

Spin Ordering Induced Broadband Photodetection Based on Two-Dimensional Magnetic Semiconductor α-MnSe

Nan Zhou et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the optical/optoelectronic properties of two-dimensional magnetic semiconductor alpha-MnSe, and reveals the significant influence of spin ordering and magnons. The magnetic phase transition triggered by spin ordering leads to a significant transition in temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra. Additionally, the alpha-MnSe exhibits a broadband luminescence and ultraviolet-near-infrared photoresponse attributed to magnons and defect structures. The improved photodetection performance at low temperature is possibly influenced by spin ordering and trap states associated with defects.
